TELL

TELL has proactively adjusted to provide a comprehensive range of services as we all learn to live with Covid-19. Our team of fully licensed therapists have worked hard to support the community through teletherapy options and relevant coping and mental health webinars.

  • TELL Counseling is a provider of CIGNA International, TriCare, HTH International, and GeoBlue Insurance, as well as employee assistance programs (EAPs) for companies, such as Human Dynamic, Workplace Options, ComPsych Corporation, Shepell FGI, and Peacemind-JEAP. All our therapists are licensed, experienced professional clinicians who are committed to providing high standards of mental healthcare in Japan.

The TELL Lifeline is available every day of the year, offering free, confidential telephone counseling that is anonymous, non-judgmental, and caring. It is available to both young people and adults, and provides callers with a wide range of English-speaking resources and support.

TELL’s founders saw that residents who did not speak fluent Japanese had few places to turn for support with mental health issues, including depression, stress, cultural adjustment, and relationship issues, and lacked access to exceptional parenting resources for children with diverse needs. Over time, as Japan’s population has become more international—and families more multicultural—an increasing proportion of Lifeline callers and TELL Counseling clients are Japanese citizens who either prefer to discuss mental health issues in English or find themselves unable to find supportive Japanese language resources.

In 2016— a year that saw 21,000 people die by suicide in Japan—TELL’s Lifeline answered more than 6,700 calls. TELL counseling operates according to a flexible-fee pricing structure that helps remove financial barriers so that mental health services are accessible to everyone. Every day, TELL services reach out to individuals, schools, families, youths, and businesses all over Japan, providing real support and connections that help save lives.
